Dos & Don'ts: Quartz Countertops

Updated: Mar 6, 2024

What to do and what not to do to make your quartz last forever!

Dos

  • Clean spills promptly to prevent any potential staining or damage!

  • Use mild cleaners like mild soap and water or a non-abrasive household cleaner.

  • Use cutting boards or chopping blocks. While quartz is scratch-resistant, it's not scratch-proof!

  • Use trivets or hot pads to prevent thermal shock or damage. Quartz is only heat resistant to a certain extent

  • Regularly clean with a soft cloth to help remove any residue or debris that may accumulate over time.

Don'ts

  • Avoid using abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals like bleach or oven cleaner, and do not use scouring pads.

  • Avoid direct sunlight, as it can cause discoloration or fading over time.

  • Avoid excessive force to the surface, as it can cause chipping or cracking.

  • Avoid using knives directly on the surface. While quartz is scratch-resistant, using knives directly on the surface can still cause damage over time.

  • Don't ignore maintenance! Even though quartz is low maintenance compared to other materials, it still requires regular care and maintenance to keep it looking its best.
